Nyamka Tegsh

In our quest for the unique, Nimette found traditional Mongolian hat-making through Nyamka, a Paris-based stylist and designer, born and raised in Mongolia. Nyamka collaborates with skilled modelists in Mongolia capable of crafting these traditional designs...

  • What are your inspirations?

My inspirations come from my roots in Mongolia, its rich history, vast steppes, and the changing colors through the seasons, feeding me endless creativity.

In Paris, I also find an infinite source of inspiration.

  • What do you love most about your job?

It is very exciting and rewarding. I love going to factories and fabric markets, touching different materials (I love searching for fabrics). Styling is also a part I immensely enjoy. It's like mixing clothes as a DJ mixes on their turntable, expressing themselves through sounds.

  • What are your future creative projects?

I'm working on my second collection, with the presentation planned for May/June 2024. And I have other very interesting projects underway.

HER SELECTION FOR NIMETTE

  • Your most beautiful trip?

The trip to Senegal in Africa was one of the most memorable. It's a continent I had not yet known. The life, tradition, and colors are unforgettable.

  • What's the nicest souvenir you've brought back with you?

When I travel, I love going to fabric markets, the black market, the artisan market.

I brought back a beautiful vintage African bag from Cap Skirring.

  • A habit you have when you visit a new place?

Visiting museums and exhibitions, and I try to bring back honey from every country I visit. The different tastes and colors of each honey are fascinating. Having them in the kitchen is already a delight to look at and to taste.
