Takuya Morikawa, a Bunka Fashion College graduate, spent eight years at ISSEY MIYAKE before launching his brand TAAKK in 2013.

Known for his avant-garde fabric innovations and deconstructed silhouettes, he won Best New Designer at the Tokyo Fashion Awards in 2014 and 2017, the Fashion Prize of Tokyo in 2019, and his Fall/Winter 2020 collection marked his Paris debut.

He possesses a unique skill set, making him a true fashion technician in my eyes. He's passionate about experimenting with materials, exploring various textures, colors, and finishes. This dedication is clearly visible in his creations. Indeed, we've selected some of his most remarkable pieces to showcase.

What truly captivated me about Morikawa was his transition from menswear to womenswear. Switching from menswear to womenswear is usually very challenging, but he did it smoothly, blending masculine styles into feminine designs. I especially admire this mix of male and female qualities that suits both men and women.

It's a privilege to celebrate his contributions to fashion, especially as part of our Nimette family.
